Dorset Business Awards 2024

In 2024, we were thrilled to be shortlisted as among the top 3 finalists for the Export Business Award at the Dorset Business Festival.

From our start just 7 years ago, our little family business has grown to face many adventures, and in the past few years we have spread our wings to expand our business outside the UK. We first stepped over the channel in March 2018 for our first work in France. Since then, France has become a regular stop on our schedules. We have worked in Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Switzerland and more and have exported as far afield as Australia. In 2022, the USA was added to our offering and it now forms a key part of our business. We are recognised as the go to experts for export in our field, something we could never have dreamt of when we first set up as a husband and wife team back in 2017.

With over 60,000 registered businesses operating locally within Dorset, it was a real honour to be recognised as amongst the very best. To be there amongst such high calibre businesses, many of whom are far bigger than ourselves, was a real testament to the hard work of our wonderful team over the past 7 years since we founded Rural Ranges. Every member of our team is vital to who we are and what we do and as we continue to build and improve our offering, it is this wonderful little work family of people around us that make everything we achieve together possible.

Huge congratulations to winner The Silver Crane Company and fellow finalist DDC Dolphin.

The Event

First stop was the Meet The Finalists event at Dorchester Museum and Art Gallery in September.

On the evening, we were able to network with our fellow finalists, making valued connections across the Dorset area.

It’s always good to meet new faces, swap ideas, and learn from fellow business professionals, no matter their field. And of course, a nice evening out just the two of us away from the demands of work and home is always an extra bonus!

Then on the 10th of October came the big day. First item on the agenda: getting all dressed up in our glad rags. Hair done, nails polished, Steve suited and booted, ready to go!

Sitting down, fancy cocktails in hand, waiting for the ceremony to begin.

The name’s Smith. Steve Smith.

Ceremony time! No awards do would be complete without the red carpet photo opportunity. As you can tell from our happy faces, this was a real moment of celebration, and a chance to pause and truly appreciated how far we’ve come.

Time to watch on in pride as our little business is shown off on the big screen. Our showroom and workshop are shining bright, and our operations manager Jamie takes a starring role!

A huge thanks to all at the Dorset Business Awards for a fantastic evening. And of course, a special thanks to our wonderful team at Rural Ranges who have worked so hard to grow our business with us.
