An Aga Fit for an Olympian
Tokyo 2020 Gold Medal Winner Kate French
A Gold Medal Aga for a Gold Medal Athlete
This year, we were honoured to partner with Tokyo 2020 gold medal winning athlete Kate French, transforming her Aga into a golden showstopper worthy of an Olympian’s home.
Kate was the first British competitor to win Olympic gold in the Modern Pentathlon since Sydney 2000. She broke the Olympic record for overall points in the event, finishing off a spectacular sporting year of achievements; she had come to Tokyo having already set the women’s world record in fencing and as a World Cup winner in the Modern Pentathlon. This year, she was appointed an MBE in the New Year’s Honours for her services to sport.
We were approached by Kate’s team to convert the Aga at her Frome country home, with the idea of creating a unique experience inspired by Kate’s recent success in Tokyo. We were absolutely thrilled - why wouldn’t be be?! We were already inspired by Kate’s wish to convert into an Electrickit, but as an Olympian athlete deserves an Olympic-worthy Aga, we also offered her an upgrade with our ‘Go Gold’ package, giving her Aga striking gold finishes to celebrate her achievements. Her Aga now has real gold-plated accessories such as domes, handrails, buttons and handles and shines as brightly as her medal!
It was an absolute privilege to work with Kate and honour her incredible success, and so we teamed with photographer Oliver Grahame to commemorate the occasion.
