Running Costs of Agas

A Guide to Your Aga’s Energy Usage

With ever changing energy prices, it can be hard to keep track of exactly how much your Aga will cost you across the different fuels. With the strain on all of our finances at present, transparency and detailed data is becoming more important than ever, so that our customers can make informed decisions when selecting or converting a model.

At Rural Ranges (Dorset based, covering England, Wales and internationally), we understand that these running costs are becoming one of the most vital key factors to consider when choosing a model. Here, we have therefore provided estimates for the weekly cost based on extensive factory and ‘real life’ testing, using up to date energy prices. These figures will of course vary depending on your usage.

Traditional Models

Here’s how much it costs every week to run a traditional Aga based on October 2025 prices:

Fuel / Model 2 oven 3 oven 4 oven 5 oven Unit price

As the above table shows, the 13Amp models have by far the most expensive running costs, so we would recommend this type only in select circumstances.

Gas remains the lowest cost fuel option for traditional Agas, although are of course subject to fluctuating gas prices. For more information on gas, oil, 30Amp and 13Amp agas, visit our information pages on the ‘Our Agas’ tab.

Running costs are based on October 2025 prices of 26.35p/kWh and official testing data from Electrickit. Please note that running costs will vary depending on usage. We recommend using the Electrickit flexibly, turning on and off only when needed, to reduce energy consumption. Energy consumption also varies depending on optional hob types and whether an independent warming plate is installed.

Using flexibility of temperatures will reduce your energy consumption.
