Controllable electric

and rainy summer days!

Though many of us associate our Agas with the comfort of winter use, that beautiful ambient heat radiating into the room, it is perhaps during the Summer months that controllable electric really comes into it's own.

Down in the South West of England, we have been experiencing unseasonably cold and wet weather (as if we haven't all already seen enough of that this year!). With Electrickit, in our house, there is no "summer switch off", no summer cover for the Aga, no alternative summer cooker or myriad of small appliances. Instead, our Electrickit changes her rhythm according to the weather and our family's need.

Until last week, she was off for much of the time, the washing was hung on the line and the Aga timed to come on for 3 hours in the evening and a few times a week for 2 hours in the morning.

This week, with a simple flick of a switch, she was back up to full winter mode in less than an hour. The still damp clothes which refused to dry over the weekend through intermittent showers, were folded and arranged on the two tier drying rack and hot cupboard dryer and the temperature turned to 200 to warm the mood, as well as the room!

Of course, it is not just the ovens which provide the flexibility, the hobs too can be called upon at any stage. This week, our 6 year old has been Mr Porridge, clicking on the induction for breakfast for porridge ready and on the table in less than 5 minutes. For lactose free Mum, the hotplate is up to simmering temperature in 8 minutes, ready for a second pan of porridge. Whilst the hobs were hot this morning, son number 2 (9) knocked up a quick tortilla wrap pizza for their packed lunches - start to finish in 4 minutes.

For anyone questioning whether an Aga is suitable for busy family life, there really is no simpler and more flexible cooker - as a relatively "new" Aga household, we have experienced both sides of the coin and the Aga for us, ticks so many more boxes.
